The story: Cup runs first. Practice and qualifying were canceled, so the issue uses the published grid and intermediate-track research.
What still matters: Cross-check starting positions and entry eligibility in DraftKings. Refresh weather and treat the rain scenarios as assumptions, not a forecast.

“Rubbin’, son, is racin’.”
Larson and Briscoe start up front. Hamlin and Bell have room to climb. The cheaper deep starters can make the math work—but this is a 267-lap oval, and buying six cars that merely survive isn’t much of a plan for the big check.
Under the Hood: The Race and the Picks
No practice. No qualifying. Plenty to work with—just less certainty.
Cup runs first today at 2 p.m. Central, with O’Reilly at 7. Kansas and Vegas offer useful tire and intermediate-track comparisons, but no practice means less certainty about Charlotte balance. We use 16 full-race builds and four interruption hedges; a delay alone does not shorten the race.
Weather, tire connection and garage notes
The useful tire connection
Cup uses D5284 left / D5290 right, the same pair as spring Charlotte and the latest Kansas and Vegas races. Those two recent intermediates carry more weight here than a short-track or drafting result.
Goodyear notes →The garage wrinkle
Custer’s No. 41 failed inspection twice: loss of pit selection and a crew member. Bell’s Vegas power-steering problem is a reason to inspect the result, not pretend his speed disappeared.
NASCAR grid and inspection →Keep a rain plan in the glove box
Saturday’s entire track schedule was canceled. Cup runs first today at 2 p.m. Central; the postponed O’Reilly race follows at 7 p.m. Central. These are separate slates. With Cup first, we cannot use an earlier O’Reilly race as a read on grip, tire wear or Sunday rubber. A delay by itself does not reduce the Cup lap count.
Sunday’s forecast has morning storms and a generally improving afternoon, with further showers still possible. Rain-washed pavement and no practice increase uncertainty about early balance; that is an inference, not measured grip. We keep the 267-lap baseline and do not invent a speed adjustment from the schedule change.
We now use 16 full-race builds and four early-finish sensitivity builds. The latter use about 55% of the lap-bonus allowance and 60% of the movement toward full-race finishing targets, with extra front-end representation. This is portfolio coverage, not a claim of a 20% chance of an early finish. A stopped race may resume.

Larson / Briscoe: pay for the lead
Larson won Kansas and finished second at Vegas. Briscoe finished fourth at Kansas, then led 175 laps in the Vegas win. Their P1/P2 starts make lap bonuses the primary route to value.
Bell / Hamlin: pay for two routes
Bell starts P17, Hamlin P12. Bell was sixth at Kansas; Hamlin third. Their spring Charlotte second/third finishes support recovery and leading potential, while Vegas problems warn against blindly using the latest finishing order.
Cindric: speed comes with a catch
Second at Kansas, fourth at Vegas. At P5, much of the prior position-gain upside is gone. Keep him as an alternate leader or high-finish bet rather than a free value square.
Deep starters: room is only the beginning
Chastain P28, Preece P25 and Gilliland P31 offer different recovery paths. Zilisch P36 and Heim P37 are tempting, but small Cup samples and Heim’s $8,000 salary demand tighter caps.

Larson’s 2.2 average across the last five races is much stronger than his 12.5 over ten. Cindric improves from 10.4 to 8.0. Heim’s 12.0 over ten represents only three starts. Spring Charlotte was shortened to 373 of 400 laps. Its results include strategy and incidents; this Sunday is a shorter scheduled race. These columns are observed finishes, not fantasy projections.

| Kyle Larson | $11,500 44430729 | P1 | 5/1/2 | 2.2 / 12.5 avg 5 / 10 starts | 7/20 | Pole position makes lap bonuses essential. Kansas winner and Vegas runner-up. |
| Denny Hamlin | $11,200 44430730 | P12 | 3/3/16 | 10.8 / 8.6 avg 5 / 10 starts | 8/20 | P12 offers recovery upside; Vegas pit trouble clouds a 16th-place result. |
| Christopher Bell | $10,700 44430731 | P17 | 2/6/23 | 10.6 / 8.5 avg 5 / 10 starts | 7/20 | P17 and spring Charlotte second. Vegas power-steering issue separated speed from result. |
| Chase Briscoe | $10,400 44430732 | P2 | 34/4/1 | 14.0 / 12.1 avg 5 / 10 starts | 7/20 | P2 after leading 175 Vegas laps. Needs leadership rather than position gain. |
| Tyler Reddick | $10,000 44430733 | P3 | 4/11/3 | 12.0 / 12.8 avg 5 / 10 starts | 5/20 | P3; spring Charlotte fourth with 119 laps led. Alternate lap-leader route. |
| Ryan Blaney | $9,700 44430734 | P4 | 7/5/5 | 16.4 / 15.8 avg 5 / 10 starts | 5/20 | P4; fifth at both Kansas and Vegas. Front-end price needs more than a solid finish. |
| Ty Gibbs | $9,400 44430735 | P15 | 6/17/17 | 11.8 / 12.7 avg 5 / 10 starts | 4/20 | Secondary candidate; use the current start and comparable oval results rather than season fantasy average. |

| Austin Cindric | $8,200 44430741 | P5 | 38/2/4 | 8.0 / 10.4 avg 5 / 10 starts | 3/20 | P5; Kansas second and Vegas fourth. Strong form, limited position-gain cushion. |
| Corey Heim | $8,000 44430742 | P37 | 19/—/— | 19.0 / 12.0 avg 1 / 3 starts | 3/20 | P37 creates room. Indianapolis win and Darlington 19th in the ten-race window show upside; $8,000 still demands a strong result. |
| Chris Buescher | $7,800 44430743 | P13 | 30/23/13 | 19.2 / 19.9 avg 5 / 10 starts | 2/20 | Secondary candidate; use the current start and comparable oval results rather than season fantasy average. |
| Ross Chastain | $7,600 44430744 | P28 | 35/15/30 | 17.8 / 19.1 avg 5 / 10 starts | 6/20 | P28 is attractive; Vegas 30th and Kansas 15th make a rebound an assumption. |
| Brad Keselowski | $7,500 44430745 | P22 | 15/12/24 | 17.2 / 17.0 avg 5 / 10 starts | 3/20 | Secondary candidate; use the current start and comparable oval results rather than season fantasy average. |
| Alex Bowman | $7,300 44430746 | P16 | 17/18/11 | 15.6 / 16.4 avg 5 / 10 starts | 3/20 | Secondary candidate; use the current start and comparable oval results rather than season fantasy average. |
| Josh Berry | $7,100 44430747 | P27 | 29/35/26 | 20.4 / 13.3 avg 5 / 10 starts | 4/20 | P27; Kansas 35th and Vegas 26th. Cap recovery optimism. |
| Ryan Preece | $7,000 44430748 | P25 | 33/10/28 | 15.0 / 13.0 avg 5 / 10 starts | 4/20 | P25; Kansas tenth and Vegas 28th. Useful alternate midrange path. |
| Daniel Suarez | $6,900 44430749 | P14 | 1/14/14 | 18.4 / 16.7 avg 5 / 10 starts | 2/20 | Spring Charlotte winner; both latest intermediates 14th. P14 leaves little free upside. |
| Shane Van Gisbergen | $6,700 44430750 | P10 | 11/24/9 | 20.4 / 21.0 avg 5 / 10 starts | 0/20 | P10 adds downside at an oval; road-course achievements are weak evidence here. |
| Erik Jones | $6,600 44430751 | P24 | 13/16/25 | 20.2 / 26.2 avg 5 / 10 starts | 3/20 | Secondary candidate; use the current start and comparable oval results rather than season fantasy average. |
| Zane Smith | $6,400 44430752 | P34 | 10/31/36 | 31.2 / 26.8 avg 5 / 10 starts | 4/20 | P34 offers recovery room; Kansas 31st and Vegas 36th argue for restraint. |
| Austin Dillon | $6,300 44430753 | P20 | 32/21/19 | 18.4 / 18.9 avg 5 / 10 starts | 1/20 | Secondary candidate; use the current start and comparable oval results rather than season fantasy average. |
| Riley Herbst | $6,200 44430754 | P21 | 21/25/18 | 28.2 / 28.4 avg 5 / 9 starts | 1/20 | Secondary candidate; use the current start and comparable oval results rather than season fantasy average. |
| Michael McDowell | $6,100 44430755 | P19 | 14/27/21 | 21.2 / 19.7 avg 5 / 10 starts | 1/20 | Secondary candidate; use the current start and comparable oval results rather than season fantasy average. |
| Connor Zilisch | $6,000 44430756 | P36 | 39/29/35 | 25.8 / 25.9 avg 5 / 10 starts | 3/20 | P36 and $6,000. Small Cup sample, with 29th/35th in the two recent intermediates. |
| AJ Allmendinger | $5,800 44430757 | P18 | 18/22/15 | 19.4 / 21.6 avg 5 / 10 starts | 2/20 | Secondary candidate; use the current start and comparable oval results rather than season fantasy average. |
| John H. Nemechek | $5,700 44430758 | P29 | 26/13/29 | 21.2 / 22.5 avg 5 / 10 starts | 4/20 | P29 creates a cheaper recovery path, though Vegas 29th limits confidence. |
| Ricky Stenhouse Jr | $5,600 44430759 | P32 | 12/32/32 | 31.0 / 25.7 avg 5 / 10 starts | 3/20 | P32; Kansas and Vegas both 32nd. Cheap is not automatically value. |
| Austin Hill | $5,500 44430760 | P26 | 27/26/22 | 25.2 / 25.9 avg 5 / 10 starts | 0/20 | Secondary candidate; use the current start and comparable oval results rather than season fantasy average. |
| Noah Gragson | $5,400 44430761 | P23 | 24/36/20 | 27.4 / 23.0 avg 5 / 10 starts | 3/20 | Secondary candidate; use the current start and comparable oval results rather than season fantasy average. |

| Cole Custer | $5,100 44430763 | P30 | 16/30/27 | 25.4 / 22.9 avg 5 / 10 starts | 3/20 | P30; inspection penalty costs pit selection and a crew member. Limited use. |

Last five race window: Darlington, Gateway, Bristol, Kansas, Vegas. Last ten adds Indianapolis, Iowa, Richmond, New Hampshire and Daytona. Averages use actual driver starts. Heim has three starts in the ten-race window, one in the five-race window. Different tracks make this context, not a Charlotte speed rating. Season fantasy averages from the salary file are retained in the source data, not used as projections.

Driver exposure and the one-wreck calculator
One wreck. How many model builds?
Counts builds containing either driver, without double-counting shared builds. Unaffected means no direct roster exposure, not guaranteed profit.
Check Your Lineups
Before we turn the key.
Construction audit passed: twenty unique lineups, six distinct drivers each, current salary-file IDs, all salaries within $50,000, 120 total roster slots, 40% maximum exposure, three-driver maximum overlap and $500 total entry cost.
Before entry: confirm DraftKings scored starts: published grids differ on Hocevar / Van Gisbergen, Gibbs / Suárez and Preece / Jones; recheck weather and garage notices; confirm the app lock shown as Sunday 2:17 p.m. Central in your screenshots. Any confirmed grid change requires another construction run. These are working candidates.
Try the scoring math
Illustrative formula: finish points + start − finish + 0.25/lap led + 0.45/fastest lap. Stage points do not enter this calculation. Verify the contest’s Rules & Scoring screen.
Method, assumptions and sources
Construction uses analyst targets and bonus allowances, with penalties for repeated drivers and pairs. It is not a calibrated projection, EV simulation or measured ownership forecast.
Analyst full-race finish targets and lap-bonus allowances are available in the driver CSV. Short-case targets move only 60% toward those finishes; bonus allowances fall to 55%. These are scenario assumptions. The Sunday reassessment changes the prior 14/6 split to 16/4: the afternoon outlook supports more full-distance coverage, while interruption risk keeps four hedges. This allocation is judgment, not a weather probability. No private setups, practice averages or measured ownership were available.
