The Yard
Can Wait

All week for this.

October 18, 2026 · Ten-game DraftKings Classic main slate · Noon CDT start

The editor · Wrench, the AI research sidekick

Two worn barstools facing football on a television in a lived-in Midwest garage, with bikes, tools and children’s drawings.

From the Editor’s Couch

The mower can
file a complaint.

The garage has two good stools, one questionable remote and a lawn mower that has been promised “after the games” since September. Sunday has a full schedule. The yard has been informed.

Rothstein wants the Rams to do the heavy lifting. Han wants Caleb to turn Atlanta into a Week 1 rerun. Wrench thinks the afternoon might steal the whole show. Three stories. Two casts apiece. Nobody gets points for finishing the leaves.

Why Male Models?

Choose the story. Meet the cast.

Three scripts, each with a single-entry build and a tournament build. Open either cast for all nine players and salaries; remaining active checks are noted below.

The market read

Rothstein

Sunday selection

The Rams pay the mortgage. Swift handles the yard.

Rothstein sees the Rams’ scoring opportunity and buys the two main doors into it: Stafford to Puka, and Kyren on the ground. He is not asking Arizona to win. He is asking Los Angeles to make the scoreboard look expensive.

Swift gets his own seat here. Han gives Caleb the rushing touchdown; Rothstein lets Swift finish more of Chicago’s drives. The single-entry cast spreads the remaining work around. The tournament cast asks Wilson to keep Arizona answering.

Single entry roster · $49,900 · $100 left

Single entry keeps Braelon’s Hall-out workload case and Likely alongside the Rams core.

SlotPlayerSalary
QBMatthew Stafford · LAR$6,400
RBD'Andre Swift · CHI$6,700
RBBraelon Allen · NYJ$5,700
WRPuka Nacua · LAR$8,100
WRXavier Worthy · KC$4,600
WRKeenan Allen · IND$4,300
TEIsaiah Likely · NYG$4,800
FLEXKyren Williams · LAR$6,800
DSTPanthers · CAR$2,500
Tournament roster · $49,500 · $500 left

The tournament cut gives Arizona a speaking part: Michael Wilson answers the Rams. Higbee joins Stafford, Puka and Kyren, concentrating four slots in Los Angeles. It needs sustained scoring and the right touchdown distribution; it sacrifices projected points for that specific game story.

SlotPlayerSalary
QBMatthew Stafford · LAR$6,400
RBD'Andre Swift · CHI$6,700
RBKyren Williams · LAR$6,800
WRPuka Nacua · LAR$8,100
WRKeenan Allen · IND$4,300
WRMichael Wilson · ARI$6,700
TETyler Higbee · LAR$3,400
FLEXXavier Worthy · KC$4,600
DSTPanthers · CAR$2,500

What breaks it: The Rams can win comfortably without Stafford throwing enough. Swift can lose goal-line work to Caleb, and the cheaper pass catchers still have to earn their targets. The single-entry cut leaves Arizona out; the tournament cut needs Wilson to answer and extend the Rams’ passing day.

Editor’s Pick

Han Solo

Sunday selection

Week 1 energy. Atlanta address.

The editor’s call: Caleb carries the day, probably runs one in, and the Bears–Falcons game turns into the kind of afternoon that makes you forget the mower exists. Burden gets his share. Bijan and London keep answering. Chicago gets the last word.

Four players from one game is a commitment. Swift stays with Rothstein rather than making this a five-player traffic jam. Both casts keep Caleb, Burden, Bijan and London at the center of the afternoon.

Single entry roster · $50,000 · $0 left

Single entry keeps Braelon and Carolina’s defense around Caleb, Burden, Bijan and London.

SlotPlayerSalary
QBCaleb Williams · CHI$6,200
RBBijan Robinson · ATL$8,700
RBBraelon Allen · NYJ$5,700
WRLuther Burden III · CHI$5,400
WRDrake London · ATL$7,000
WRKeenan Allen · IND$4,300
TETyler Higbee · LAR$3,400
FLEXKyren Williams · LAR$6,800
DSTPanthers · CAR$2,500
Tournament roster · $50,000 · $0 left

The tournament cut trades Braelon and Panthers DST for Worthy and Chiefs DST. The four-player Bears–Falcons script stays intact; Kansas City supplies a separate route through explosive receiving and defensive scoring. That added dependence is intentional, not proof of low ownership.

SlotPlayerSalary
QBCaleb Williams · CHI$6,200
RBBijan Robinson · ATL$8,700
RBKyren Williams · LAR$6,800
WRLuther Burden III · CHI$5,400
WRDrake London · ATL$7,000
WRKeenan Allen · IND$4,300
TETyler Higbee · LAR$3,400
FLEXXavier Worthy · KC$4,600
DSTChiefs · KC$3,600

What breaks it: Caleb must be active and able to move. His rushing touchdown is the editor’s scenario, not medical clearance or a projection. If Chicago’s points come mostly through Swift, or Atlanta cannot answer, this stack loses its reason for being.

Wrench’s choice

Keyser Soze

Sunday selection

The afternoon steals the remote.

Wrench is the AI research sidekick. His third story lets everybody argue about Atlanta while Buffalo and Las Vegas take over the afternoon. Josh Allen connects with Shakir and Kincaid; Tucker gives the Raiders a way to keep the conversation going.

Bijan and Walker carry the single-entry backfield while Buffalo’s passing game supplies the plot. The tournament cast gives Las Vegas a louder answer: Bowers joins Tucker across from Allen, Shakir and Kincaid. Two tight ends belong to that passing story in both builds.

Single entry roster · $50,000 · $0 left

Bijan replaces Kyren; Keenan and Panthers DST replace Worthy and Chiefs DST. Walker stays. The Buffalo core is unchanged.

SlotPlayerSalary
QBJosh Allen · BUF$7,500
RBBijan Robinson · ATL$8,700
RBKenneth Walker III · KC$8,500
WRKhalil Shakir · BUF$5,300
WRTre Tucker · LV$4,700
WRKeenan Allen · IND$4,300
TETyler Higbee · LAR$3,400
FLEXDalton Kincaid · BUF$5,100
DSTPanthers · CAR$2,500
Tournament roster · $50,000 · $0 left

The tournament cut buys a bigger Raiders answer: Bowers and Tucker opposite Allen, Shakir and Kincaid. Hubbard, Keenan and Panthers DST make the salary work. Bowers at TE and Kincaid in FLEX are deliberate; a receiver-heavy winning slate can punish that choice.

SlotPlayerSalary
QBJosh Allen · BUF$7,500
RBChuba Hubbard · CAR$6,300
RBKyren Williams · LAR$6,800
WRKhalil Shakir · BUF$5,300
WRTre Tucker · LV$4,700
WRKeenan Allen · IND$4,300
TEBrock Bowers · LV$7,500
FLEXDalton Kincaid · BUF$5,100
DSTPanthers · CAR$2,500

What breaks it: Three Bills require Allen’s passing production to concentrate in the chosen receivers. Cook or another receiver can take the touchdowns. Tucker is a volatile return. The single-entry backfield needs Bijan and Walker to justify their combined salary; the tournament cut needs both Raiders to contribute. The two-tight-end construction can lose to a receiver-heavy slate. Late-game availability needs another check.

Everybody’s Got a Guy

Different stories. Some familiar faces.

Kyren appears in five builds, Keenan in all six and Panthers DST in five. Those are shared bets: different quarterbacks cannot protect the page from a quiet Keenan day or a poor Carolina defensive result.

Worthy and Higbee still recur. We do not have verified main-slate ownership, so these are exposure notes—not claims about who the field will overlook.

The coffee is fresh. Check the locks.

Caleb is reported active. Han’s rushing touchdown remains the editor’s call. Hall’s absence supports Braelon’s workload case, while Rice’s absence opens opportunity for Worthy.

Availability watch: complete official inactive verification remains open for selected noon players; check each status in DraftKings before submitting. Later games need later checks. Keep late players in FLEX where practical, and recheck salary and eligibility after any swap.

Sources, assumptions and slate checks

DraftKings main-slate CSV supplied by the editor: 525 unique IDs; ten games on October 18; QB/RB/RB/WR/WR/WR/TE/FLEX/DST, $50,000 cap. Every roster above reconciles to that export; all nine players are unique and eligible. No lineup pairs an offense against its own selected DST.

Sunday inputs: Splash Play’s October 18, 10:56 a.m. Eastern snapshot and the editor’s salary export. Integer optimization maximized the provider’s mean-point estimates within story constraints for 116 exact name-and-salary matches. This is a partial pool; it does not establish ceiling, ownership, cash probability or tournament win probability.

Rothstein retains Stafford, Puka, Kyren, Swift, Worthy and Keenan. Han retains Caleb, Burden, Bijan and London. Wrench retains Allen, Shakir, Kincaid and Tucker; his revised single-entry cut excludes Kyren to reduce that shared dependency. Its provider estimate is 132.6 versus 130.5 for the previous cut. Tournament constraints add Wilson to Rothstein, Worthy with Chiefs DST to Han, and Bowers to Wrench.

Consistency review: Bernard’s documented recent work does not justify a blanket exclusion; restoring him to the comparison pool does not require a last-minute swap into these casts. Tampa’s forecast wind is a caution, not a player ban. Historical DraftKings averages were not used as forecasts.

All six pass exact salary, unique-ID, eligible-slot and defense-conflict checks. Public rosters do not identify actual personal entries. Browser visual QA remains unverified.
