From the Editor’s Couch

The stars get
the good chairs.

“Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!” The early games are still arguing with your blood pressure, somebody wants a snack, and the afternoon has arrived with Josh Allen, Puka Nacua and a remote nobody can find.

The editor’s instruction is simple: the stars shine. Rothstein checks who is paying for the electricity. Coach Taylor wonders whether Arizona can make the Rams work a little overtime. Three stories, two casts apiece. The nap is officially questionable.

Why Male Models?

Three stories. Six casts.

The same Sunday format as The Yard Can Wait: three scripts, each with a single-entry cast and a tournament cast. Open either roster for all nine players and salaries.

The market read

Rothstein

Sunday selection

The Rams pay the mortgage.

Rothstein has given the Rams the afternoon shift. Stafford finds Puka, Kyren finishes drives, and Los Angeles supplies enough scoring to justify four seats on this couch. The Rams’ 32-point implied total is the strongest in our reference market. Walker brings a second favorite’s running game along for the ride.

The single-entry cast lets Shakir and Worthy work outside that game. The tournament cast brings Wilson back from Arizona: a Cardinals answer keeps Stafford throwing longer. Royals supplies the salary room, with a much less certain speaking part.

Single entry roster · $49,900 · $100 left

WRXavier Worthy · KC$4,600

WRJalen Royals · KC$3,300

What breaks it: A comfortable Rams win can still leave Stafford short of passing touchdowns. Higbee and Mayer must contribute; Royals adds another workload gamble in the tournament cast.

Editor’s Pick

Han Solo

Sunday selection

The stars get the good chairs.

The editor’s call: the stars shine in the afternoon session. Allen takes over in Las Vegas. Puka and Kyren keep the Rams moving. Walker gets his turn before anybody is allowed to change the channel. If the big names put on a show, Han wants a front-row seat.

Coleman connects the single-entry cast to Allen’s arm. The tournament version gives Bowers the answering role across the field, with Allgeier helping pay for the marquee. Arizona has named him the starter with Love out; Knight and Hull still make a one-man backfield an assumption we cannot buy.

FLEXBrock Bowers · LV$7,500

What breaks it: The stars need help. Bourne, Higbee and Mayer carry the single-entry compromises. The tournament cast asks Allgeier and Royals to turn opportunity into actual production.

Wrench’s choice

Coach Taylor

Sunday selection

Arizona makes them earn it.

Coach Taylor has heard enough about the Rams’ easy afternoon. His Cardinals fight, cover the big number and still lose. Brissett keeps finding Wilson and McBride, giving Arizona enough offense to make Los Angeles put its shoes back on.

Kyren answers on the other side. Cook and Tucker give the single-entry cast room to breathe outside SoFi. The tournament cast commits harder: Puka joins the Rams’ response, Allgeier keeps Arizona moving, and Higbee gets another chance near the end zone. This version needs that game to stay alive deep into the afternoon.

Single entry roster · $50,000 · $0 left

WRJalen Royals · KC$3,300
TETrey McBride · ARI$7,200
FLEXTyler Higbee · LAR$3,400
DSTChiefs · KC$3,600

What breaks it: A respectable final margin can hide a poor passing day. Brissett needs time, Wilson and McBride need the targets, and Allgeier can share more work than the tournament story allows.

Everybody’s Got a Guy

The stars still need a supporting cast.

Kyren and Chiefs DST appear in every cast. Puka joins five. Those familiar faces tie the stories together, and a quiet day from a shared player hurts several of them at once.

The cheapest names deserve the longest look. Mayer shares a team with Bowers. Royals needs routes and targets, not just Rice’s empty locker. We have no verified ownership for this afternoon field, so neither is being sold as a hidden gem.

Before You Donate

Check the cast. Then claim the chair.

The news that matters: Rice and Love are out. Buffalo’s official list has Moore out and Palmer available, so Shakir and Coleman do not inherit the whole receiving room. The Raiders’ selections are absent from their inactive list. McDuffie is out for the Rams.

The remaining question: Kansas City’s complete Sunday inactive list is still unverified here. Royals is the first player to check before using a tournament cast; being active would still leave his workload uncertain.

The forecast: Kansas City references show a dry afternoon in the upper 60s, with a breeze around 10–15 mph. That does not prompt a model change. Allegiant has a fixed roof; SoFi’s canopy leaves open sides. These are forecast references, not field measurements.

Sources, assumptions and slate checks

Reviewed October 18 at 2:16 p.m. CDT. The editor’s afternoon salary export contains 158 unique IDs across ARI–LAR, BUF–LV and LAC–KC. First kickoff is 3:05 p.m. Central; the other games start at 3:25. All six displayed rosters reconcile to that file: nine unique eligible players, $50,000 or less, and no offense paired against its own selected defense.

Player selections are retained from the Sunday model review. Splash Play’s refreshed 1:50 p.m. Eastern estimates were checked as a reference; coverage is partial. No new full-pool optimization or simulations were run for this story edit. Provider simulated winning-lineup credit is not field ownership. Thursday’s anomalous RST% figures remain excluded.

Reference market: Rams −12.5, total 51.5; Bills −5.5, total 53.5; Chiefs −7.5, total 41.5. These are dated provider references and can move. Allgeier starting does not establish his share of work. No unrestricted workload is inferred from active status. The complete Chiefs inactive check remains open.
